Joining the MR 25 group is to motivate me to keep going for faster speed and achieve Boston qualifying. To speak the truth, I am really not up to the mark in the group because they are really fast.
The format is simple , just around the Bedok Reservoir, which is now easier to get to with the downtown line. This cross country race is organised by

They are an athletics club focusing on providing physical training for young athletes. I was never a sprinter, but since the MR 25 group decide to form another veteran team, I thought why not just go for the experience and the fun. Cher, one of the MR 25 ladies runner told me that they are forming a more manageable veteran team than the faster team which consisted of Vivian Tang, one of the fastest Singaporean marathoners. Originally, there were only 3 teams inclusive of our 2 MR25 teams. However, the Singapore Shufflers pulled in a female veteran group last minute bringing the challenge up.
Race
At the race start
Jumping straight into the race which took place on 24th February at Bedok reservoir. The start point is actually a bit further down from the Bedok reservoir Passion wave , while the ladies do the inner loop. The guys do a larger outer loop which is about 4.8Km. Bedok reservoir is predominantly gravel ground, so I decided to wear trail shoes instead of the usual running shoes. It can get very hot around Bedok reservoir as it is quite barren compared to Macritchie.
Majority of the participants are from schools and there were many young ones in the race. The atmosphere is very competitive even for the ladies. Our start off was pretty late, so it is getting really hot then but I was prepare for it just that never expected it to be so hot. There were no starting arch as it was in the middle of the a pathway in the PCN. I could feel the tension and all of us were very excited. Half way through I was already feeling queasy and uncomfortable. The grogginess start to come in. But I told myself just tolerate another 2 KM and I be done. As we ran away from the sun it was much better and we were about to end.

My Result
The finishing line was at the Passion wave, many of my friends whom I knew from running were all there either to join the race or just to support others. It was really a nice event minus the crazy running.
The MR25 girls just gathered around for some cameo moments before we call it a day.
