Did not thought about joining this race at all, then just got spurred by one of the swimming friends, Fidel Costa. He was running the Bukit timah summit all the time and I realised that he was joining this activity.
Just to kinda “revenge” my failure in the 200Km Shiok! Race by Running Guild. I decided to join the 88.88km Lucky run by Running Guild also. Alice, a running friend of mine, actually suggested it as she wanted to do it. So I decided to join her together.
This ultra race is organised by the Running Guild. Ben Swee is the chief mastermind behind all the action. The race can be done over a period designated or one shot which allows you to be on the Roll of Honour of the Running Guild. This 200Km race is different from the 100 miles previously as there is a designated route and time limit to qualify for the roll of honour.
To celebrate my 42 birthday, I just did a simple full marathon without much planning. Maybe I am so used to running in Singapore, it really did not bother me much do run longer distances here as I know logistic wise it will not be that bad, and one thing for sure, there is always a public transport waiting for me if in any case I wanna give up.
This virtual run is by Spacebib. Have been working from home since April this year, that makes it about 4 months since I wrote this in Aug. To speak the truth, Covid 19 situation around the world has not really come to and end. I guess it is going to get longer than SARS. Was quite amazed that I actually witness 2 pandemics in my life and I wonder how many more disasters I will witness in years to come.
Relay For Life (RFL)is actually a global movement founded in May 1985. It has raised about $5 billion and gathered 4 million participants to take part annually, making it one of the world’s largest fundraisers. In Singapore, this relay is organised by the Singapore Cancer Society, it helps to celebrate those who survived from Cancer, remember those whom we lost to cancer and at the same time help to raise some funds for the society.
With the current Corvid 19 situation, many running events has been cancelled. This does not help with more and more continents getting it. Despite that, small runs organised by various groups are still going on. Having joined the previous events organised by SuperFit. I decided to go for their trail running event again.
Was not supposed to do this race this year, but it was cancelled last year and the postpone reason was not sure. As such all participants were deferred to this year, the race was on Sunday 19 Jan 2020.
The idea of going to the USA since my last trip in 1997 to New York, where the Twin Towers were still alive, was really surreal. Having balloted the Chicago marathon and getting the ballot, I decided to go and also make a trip to New York at the same time.
