Another freebie race, normal registration is $69 which is actually through donations to gather that amount, but if you are unable to raise that, you will need to fork out own funds to top up and register for the race.
This is an event which is jointly sponsored by Singtel. Fowler, one of the tortoise runners invited me with the free bib as his friend who was working for Yakult, is able to get free bib for the race. Fowler actually asked me and Katherine to go together.

The race pack was collected by Fowler I guess its the Yakult sponsors doing the bulk collection. The race pack is not bad with a tee shirt and a drawstring bag.
Race Day
Every year the race takes place at Angsana green near the ECP hawker centre. The big space around there makes it good for events. Originally Fowler want to pick me up but I had to rush off for my birthday celebration with the family.
Fowler was already at the start point as usual, on the dot, many of the folks were wearing the official tee while me and fowler wore the tortoise shirt. He paced me throughout the race, this time round I wore the newly won Sketchers shoes, it was very bouncy and jumpy. The race was 15km, but I was almost worn out at 10km, I could felt the strain on the calves, and I started to slow down. Fowler was still in tip top, and he was still going on fast. Somehow, he doesn’t have any sign of tiredness. Another thing was that I was sweating really profusely and I found it quite strange as I did not used to sweat too much.
I tried to catch up with Fowler, he was like doing interval , run and then walk to wait for me. I was left with 2 ladies in sight to overtake but I just do not seem to have the capacity to do it. The route was actually easy, all within ECP itself and not much of slopes. I was so relieved when I crossed the line, it was like I cannot wait to finish it, was all drenched. We were given the medal, banana and hydration at the end. Me and Fowler took some pics and then we moved on to the Yakult booth to rest.
There were free Yakult for us and not forgetting the lovable Milo truck. So happy to see it there with the good cold milo.
We waited only a bit and Sally who took over Katherine’s place came back. We decided to to MacDonald’s to have a small breakfast and end the morning.
To speak the truth , I would not have paid for the race ( which was actually donation ). Singapore races are really getting too expensive. However, thinking back, if it is for Charity, maybe I might. Glad that these 2 times I managed to get free races for the Sketchers and this one. I only managed to squeeze in 8th position, not sure if it has something to deal with my selection of shoes or maybe I was just tired.
Anyway till the next race.
