So this was another pole studio which I went during my Chicago Marathon trip. I wanted to try another studio but seems like my timing can only meet with the schedule of this studio.
The booking is not difficult, you can simply access their website https://poleappeal.com/. You can also book sessions through the Mind Body App. Not very familiar with the landscape around Chicago City, I relied on Google maps to get me to the studio. It is along one main road and quite easy to find.
The class I signed up was actually more like a beginners’ class but judging that I was still recovering from the Chicago marathon, I thought it will be just good to hang on the pole while and just that I do not get rusty.
The Studio
The studio looked pretty new, it has a high ceiling and very deep to the back. There is a nice comfy seating area and reception table, inside the studio is bright and in front of every pole there is a mirror instead of the usual long panel mirror in most studios.
Towards the back is the toilet and changing area, it is quite big and nice. So students can change over there before starting the class. Although a small establishment, this studio gives you a friendly and cosy feeling like at home.
The Class
I was lucky to have the founder Ms Patty Yaconis to be my lesson instructor. There were altogether only 4 of us that day ( including Patty) that meant a lot of attention will be given to you. I was a bit late as I was not familiar with the area but still managed in time. Patty is a very nice and friendly instructor, having met a few rude people on my trip in Chicago, I was pretty happy to have this pretty lady being so nice and warm to me. She does look a bit senior but I am impressed that she never gave up on pole dancing and has even entered competitions before.
The lesson started with some warm ups and twirling around the pole. Then we did a simple routine, which the other 2 students have learnt the week before. There were not many tricks but just focusing more on the dancing and the form. The class was fun with Patty helping us out, the girls have yet to be able to climb up the pole confidently so Patty assisted for their ascend on the pole.
There were some small breaks in between and we chatted on the moves and routine. The song we danced to was ” Partition by Beyonce”.
After Class
Patty was very nice and she told me to hang on for the next class which is a bit more advanced, but unfortunately I had to leave for another appointment. But I could see the next class students seem to be of a higher level and also in a clique. Overall this studio give me a very cosy and family feel. If I stay in Chicago, I will definitely be a regular!
